Almond blossom in the Tramuntana valleys

For a few weeks the valleys behind Sóller turn white and pink. Where to walk, and when to go so you have it to yourself.

From late January the almond trees come into blossom, and for three or four weeks the valleys behind Sóller and around Santa Maria look like nothing else on the island.

Where to go

  • Sóller to Fornalutx — the classic. Go early; by eleven the road fills up.
  • Santa Maria to Alaró — flatter, quieter, easy on a bicycle.
  • Around Caimari — the terraces here catch the light in the late afternoon.
